The Character Sheet
Everyone's OC, sitting around the same fire. Draw each other's characters β that's the whole point.
Everyone's character, at the same fire. Put yours up and it appears here for the whole circle at once β click your own card any time to change the drawing. The ones marked passing through are wanderers keeping the empty rocks company; they step aside as travellers arrive. Anyone who hasn't drawn a character yet sits as the rock they found.
Every word said at this fire is kept with the page β leaving doesn't lose it. This is just a copy for your own folder.
Paste the meeting link for this session and everyone's βopen the callβ button points at it. Leave it empty for a night with no call β the fire works on its own.
Recording here captures the window you pick plus the fire, music and voices, and saves a video file when you stop. Everyone sees the red badge either way.
Upload an mp3 from your computer, or paste a direct link to one, and it plays instead of the lofi piano. Streaming pages β YouTube, Spotify, your Epidemic library β are web pages rather than audio files, so use exported mp3s. An uploaded track plays on your device only.
The Resting Place
You have come a long way. Sit down.
There is a fire in the old wood that nobody remembers lighting. Travellers have been finding it for as long as anyone has kept count β mapmakers, carvers, singers, people with ink on their hands and a half-finished thing in their bag. They come in off the road, find a rock that nobody is using, and stay a while.
No one asks where you came from. No one asks to see your face. The fire does not care whether you are any good yet.
The rules of the fire
Raise your hand when you want the circle. Everyone will see the light gather around you, and the talking will settle. Say your piece. The hand lowers itself when you are done.
Don't fight here. Argue about brush sizes and frame counts all you like. But this is a resting place, and whatever you are carrying from the road stays outside the ring of stones.
When someone holds up their work, be loud about it. Throw everything you have β the hearts, the fire, the hands. It costs you nothing and it is the whole reason the fire is warm. Nobody brings their sketchbook out twice in a cold room.
Critique is a gift you ask for, not one you hand out. If a traveller wants it they will say so, and then say it kindly and say it specifically. If they did not ask, they came to be seen, not corrected.
You may sit and say nothing at all. Watch the fire. Watch someone else draw. Some nights the only thing you have in you is showing up, and showing up is enough. Nobody here will ask you why you are quiet.
Bring the unfinished thing. The wobbly walk cycle, the sketch you hate, the scene you have redrawn nine times. Finished work is for the road. The fire is for the middle of it.
What is shown at the fire stays at the fire. Nobody's half-made work leaves this wood without their word.
Take any rock that is free. They all sit the same distance from the warmth. Nobody has a better seat than anybody else.
Leave whenever you need to. No goodbyes, no explaining. Your rock goes back to being a rock, and it will still be here next time.
Have fun. That one is not decoration. It is the point.
What the fire offers
A rock of your own. Put your own character on it and let them sit with everybody else's. Change the drawing whenever you like β open the character sheet and click your card, or tap your rock by the fire.
Voices, not faces. Speak through the call and your rock pulses with your voice. Nobody owes this place their camera.
The high stone. Hold your art or your animation up and it hangs large above the fire where everyone can see it at once. Step through it frame by frame. Draw on it. Keep what the others drew.
The sky. Draw straight onto the night while you explain β a line, an arrow, a shape in the air β and the whole circle sees it.
The record. Everything said at the fire is written down. Take it with you when you go.
Logs. Throw one on. The fire grows, and everyone feels it.
Quiet, if you want it. The crackle and the music both have a small icon beside them. Click it and that sound goes away, just for you.
If more than ten arrive
There are ten rocks. When they are full, the rest of the company stands in the ring β still seen, still heard, still part of it. Nobody is turned away from this fire, and nobody is invisible at it.
The one thing worth protecting
Cameras off. Presence on.
You are visibly, unmistakably here β sitting with other people who are making things β and you do not owe anyone your face to prove it. Everything else in this wood is decoration on that single idea.
Now find a rock. The fire has been waiting.
